What is mercia flag?

Mercia did not have an official flag as it existed during the Anglo-Saxon period, long before flags were commonplace. However, modern-day representations of Mercia often feature a red and gold design, with a stylized gold entwined wyvern (a two-legged dragon) on a red background. This design was created by the Flag Institute in 2015 as part of an initiative to create county flags for all historic English counties. The wyvern is a traditional symbol of Mercia, often associated with King Penda, who ruled the kingdom in the 7th century.
